We had a great response to the Support Group Training on Saturday. There were 12 people attending and the training went very well. All were enthusiastic about the prospect of providing support services in our community and we should soon be seeing the formation of new groups. Keep watch on adaesinc.org for additions to the support group line-up.

June 2 Caregiver Day at Hospice.
What an awesome day! We had almost 200 people attend the event at Hospice of Marion County last Tuesday. I just want to thank all the sponsors for the great job they did on this event. We received numerous compliments from caregivers that attended. Some were even brought to tears of joy because they were made to feel very special for those 4 hours. Gaye Martin delivered a very funny and inspiring message about the simple magic you can create in your relationships. Lunch was and dessert was outstanding. All of our sponsors donated 1 or more door prizes that were given away at the end of the day. It was a day filled with traditions, rekindled relationships, lasting memories and very fulfilled caregivers.
Save the date now for the next Caregiver Day on Tuesday November 3rd. See you there.

With the June 2 Caregiver Day behind us, we look ahead to future events that bring education and hope to caregivers. ADAES has partnered with The Vines Hospital in Ocala to present a public viewing of the recently released HBO Alzheimer’s Project. The first viewing, “The Memory Loss Tapes”, will be on June 18th in the Klein Center at CFCC. Doors will open at 4:00 pm for resource information and the viewing will begin at 5:00 pm. A panel discussion will follow the film and includes a neurologist a psychiatrist, an elder law attorney and Terrie Hardison. The event is free but please RSVP to hayley.creasey@psysolutions.com or 352-572-2285
